Avis has been playing golf since 1973. As a member of the San Diego County Junior Golf Association, she has won over 40 Junior Golf Tournaments, including the prestigious Junior World Tournament and the San Diego City Women's Amateur Championship.
After obtaining her college degree in Communications, Avis played on the several professional tours to include the FUTURES Golf Tour and the Players West Professional Tour, where she set the women's course record (65) at Canyon Crest Country Club. One of the highlights of Avis' career was in June 1988, when she qualified and played in the United States Women's Open.
After 15 years away from competitive golf, she decided to resume this dream. Through many long hours of practice and support from her family, Avis received confirmation from Cynthia D. Rihm, Vice President of Corporate Operations, FUTURES Golf Tour, on earning playing status with the FUTURES Golf tour and currently eligible to enter tournaments in 2006.
Her past experience and maturity has prepared Avis for a successful endeavor back on the Professional Golf circuit. She has all the pieces in place; a stable and secure family, a teaching professional, a sound management team and a burning desire to become the best player on the LPGA Tour.
